The pace of the movie is very slow but Colin does a great job.

Have you read the book, Emeline? Any idea how it compares?

The book is slow itself, there's no action in it, it's just George describing George.

Nope, haven't read it. I guess you might like the film then.

Just finished "the Lacuna" by Barbara Kingsolver this week. Loved it. Starts off with the beginning of the main character's autobiography and continues with a collection of his diaries. All sorts of facts about Trotsky, Stalin, Frida Kahlo, the cold war, McCarthyism gleaned along the way.

Spoiler Alert
And a shawshank redemptionish ending

I read a bunch of stuff this month: One Day by David Nicholls, Kill Your Friends by John Niven, It's Different For Girls by Louise Wener and Juliet, Naked by Nick Hornby.

I enjoyed all of them - I think the Louise Wener least. I'm moving onto a chick lit next, I think. Then maybe something more worthy.

So "Juliet, Naked" hasn't curbed your enthusiasm for the forum? The forum in the book was much sadder than ours I think....

Oh goodness! I cringed. It was so close to the bone. I spent most of the book wondering which musician Tucker Crowe was based on. It did make me think about the nature of being a music fan though. I think most of the people on this board have sort of full lives of their own, which makes them less fanatical, maybe. I dunno. Interesting thoughts though.

I'll believe it when I see it. He's too busy sundialling his days away, if you ask me. Never happy, fans. All we want is new songs, (except when they're songs we don't like) and new tour dates (except when they're in places we don't like). We want lots of news (except when we don't) and we want him to have an opinion on everything (except when he's wrong).

Hard to please? Easy job, Brit-nominated musician (!)
